The 2025 Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships, in conjunction with the USFS National Qualifying Series (NQS) plus the Lake Placid International (LPIDI) were competed at the Lake Placid Olympic Center from July 27-31. Seventy couples from fifteen countries completed.

The NQS, or National Qualifying Series, is the first stage of the U.S. Figure Skating qualifying structure for singles, pairs and ice dance competitions. The Series is held mid-July to early October for skaters to earn points to advance to the NQS Finals, and ultimately, the US Figure Skating Championships  (junior and senior) or the National High Performance Development Team  (juvenile-novice).

The 2025-2026 NQS ice dance qualifying competitions include: Dallas Classic, Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships, Skate Detroit, and Challenge Cup. The total points earned will determine a team’s eligibility for participation at the Ice Dance Final in Henderson, Nevada, November 3-9.

The Juvenile and Intermediate teams competed in the 1932 Arena, named for speed skater, Jack Shea, the first American to win multiple gold medals at a single Olympic Winter Game.

The Novice, Junior and Senior teams competed on the Herb Brooks Arena ice. In 2005, at the 25th anniversary celebration of the of “Miracle on Ice”, the arena was named after the late American 1980 Olympic team coach.

For the Rhythm Dance the 2025-2026 theme is “The Music, Dance Styles and Feeling of the 1990s”. This theme allows for a wide range of musical styles and dance interpretations as long as they reflect the essence of the 1990s and are high-energy and crowd-pleasing. The Juvenile, Intermediate and Novice (JINs) dance teams skated two patterns followed by a Free Dance.
